Shchelkovo Steel Works
The Shchelkovo Steel Works was founded in 1949. Due to the rehabilitation carried out by OMK, it turned into a unique enterprise. The Shchelkovo Steel Works is the only plant in Russia to produce high quality ultrathin bands with the preset level of stress-strain and physical properties made of cold-rolled steel and alloys with low content of carbon. The quality of Shchelkovo Steel Works products and equipment meets the highest international standards. Such leading European companies as Sundwig (Germany), Ebner (Austria), Siemens (Germany), Vollmer (Germany) and other well-known equipment suppliers participated in the design, construction and installation of this unique technological complex. Most of the plant’s products are used for slot microstructural and magnetic masks for television tubes and high-resolution computer displays. The plant supplies its products to the electric-bulb and cable industries, as well as to enterprises that make storage batteries and chemical power supply units.
