OMK is guided by Russian regulations and international environmental and production standards. The Works are equipped with environmental laboratories which supervise waste and emissions, conduct the necessary research and record statistical data on the environment-related activities of the enterprises.

Creating environmentally safe production at its enterprises is among OMK key objectives. By caring about environmental issues, the Company provides for the future of the regions where its employees live and work. The basic elements of its environment-related activity include the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies, modernization and environmental management programs.

When preparing new investment projects, OMK evaluates the level of their impact on the environment and human health, takes into consideration all possible consequences and plans the necessary environmental action. In an effort to systematically reduce the environmental impact, OMK enterprises implement environmental plans agreed with the supervisory environmental authorities.

OMK actively interacts with nongovernmental environmental organizations. In 2005, the Company became a co-founder of the Vernadsky Nongovernmental Ecological Foundation. As a part of its co-operation with the Foundation, OMK is going to implement environmental projects and programs contributing to solving environmental problems at the Company’s enterprises, implementing cutting-edge international standards of environmental management and audit.
